A rare opportunity to acquire a beautiful broadleaf woodland located in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) close to the village of Beenham.

A very special woodland with gentle slopes and valleys on varying soils.  The woodland is classified as a semi-natural ancient woodland and has been designated as a  Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) because of its habitat quality.

A small steam meanders through the attractive central valley creating a wonderful place to escape the rush of modern day life. In spring the bluebell display is truly amazing. Other flora include wild daffodil, dogs mercury, yellow archangel, violet and buttercup.

Mature oaks are set amongst ash, wych elm, wild cherry and silver birch while the understory is mainly hazel coppice. Wildlife is numerous with roe and munjac deer often seen, along with badgers and foxes. Dormice are also present.

Oliver Cromwell's army are said to have been based in the wood and surrounding fields during The Battle of Newbury.

A more attractive woodland in an ideal location would be hard to find. Access is via a good track which is suitable for all vehicles, a public footpath crosses the wood at the southern end.
