A new plantation, established in 2003 with a mix of broadleaved trees on a meadow in the prettiest of locations in rural Devon.  The trees are growing well and over the next few years will change dramatically as the canopy starts to close and the trees become a woodland.

Wildlife rich hedges frame the land and form well-defined boundaries on all sides. Roe deer visit while lots of birdlife nest and roost in these hedges.

The gentle southerly slope allows long sunny days where invertebrates including butterflies can bask in the warmth, as can owners. This slope also provides wide views of the amazing landscape across the valley to the hills and woods beyond.  The plentiful clearings and open ground make this very usable and accessible.

Planting was establish with a Forestry Commission Woodland Grant Scheme which would transfer to a new owner and there are annual payments of about £430 until 2018, the end of the 15 year Farm Woodland Premium Scheme qualifying period.
