Many of the tributaries to the river Exe have wooded valleys along their lengths as it the case here, Three Hare Hanger is set a little way above the river on the southern side, and fronts on to a small lane.  Classified as ancient and semi-natural woodland it contains mainly oak with beech, silver birch, hazel coppice and bluebells (in spring) galore. Dense enough to be secluded while open enough to be able to walk though. On the ground with the bluebells are extensive ferns and bilberry.

As shown on the plan and as below there are rights to use some of the riverside land.

Rights and Covenants - in essence, for the owners of Three Hare Hangar

  • there is right of way all times with and without vehicles over the first access A-B
  • the wood is subject to a right of way for others along the second track C-D
  • there is a right to use the land by the river, edged green, for recreational purposes including walking, swimming, picnics and camping, with some reservations.

And not to:

  • subdivide the wood;
  • cause a nuisance for the neighbours;
  • use the wood for commercial game bird shooting

Access   Is directly off the public highway, a narrow lane then internally along either of the tracks.

Boundaries  Are the roadside, the upper track is included with the boundary to the far side, the lower track is not included and the boundary is on the inside. There is, though, a right of way for the wood along this track. There is a row of free standing posts along the west side.
