Crowflower Wood has enormous appeal for the small woodland owner as a manageable parcel of woodland with clearly defined boundaries in an unspoilt setting. There is easy access along a country lane and then along a well maintained woodland track with plenty of parking within the boundary of the wood.

Once within the shelter of the wood the ground is level and the remnants of an old woodland ride define the northern boundary. The woodland here is dense and varied. The southern boundary has mature hedging running along the quiet lane to the wood; this provides perfect cover for nesting birds and small mammals. Exploring further under the canopy there is an interesting balance of mature, towering broadleaf and conifer. Closer to the ground, holly and young beech reach for the light from the myriad of interesting woodland flowers, ferns and grasses that crowd the woodland floor.

The crowflower after which this enchanting woodland takes its name has many aliases including crowfoot and buttercup and has come to symbolise different attributes through ancient folklore and literature. Amongst these is health and fresh air as they thrive in a pure natural environment. It takes its place in literary history by virtue of its inclusion by Shakespeare in the garland Ophelia.

Boundaries are: Five Ash Lane to the south, the access track to the wood to the east and by an old woodland track at the northern boundary.
