Barkbeth Wood is located within the Lake District National Park close to both Keswick and Cockermouth and has magnificant views over Bassenthwaite Lake and the northern fells.

There is good access from the road along a solid woodland track. Once within the woodland you will enjoy its wild feel, it's of mixed character with native broadleaf trees, conifers and open areas. During the spring much of the woodland is carpeted in bluebells; growing alongside these are an abundance of other plant species including primroses, wood sorrel, pignut, ferns and bracken as well as some occasional patches of wild garlic. Trees found within the wood include many oak trees which show signs of being coppiced in the past, some hazel, birch, ash, rowan and also some spruce and larch.

The varied array of ground flora and tree species here provide plenty of food, cover and habitat for the local wildlife population as well as seasonal visitors. In evidence here are badger, roe deer and squirrel and many bird species are also present. Just spend some time quietly in the wood and you will be surprised what comes along.

There are four grassy levelled areas suitable for parking or for a tent. One flattened area (with the best views) has a 6m x 6m timber deck built on tree stumps ideal for working on or for elevated camping. Larger trees are ideal for childrens swings, no child will resist the two tree houses .

The large tent, see is owned by the vendors who awould be willing to hand it on to a purchaser, however this would not be part of a sale but a post sale donation.

There is a covenant, click here to read, on the woodland designed to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of this and adjoining woodland.
