Tun Wood is a large and secluded area of ancient and semi-natural woodland, nestled at the far end of the broader Brewers Wood. Its peaceful setting makes it an ideal escape into nature.

The woodland is rich with mature oak and chestnut, with the occasional veteran Scots pine. You'll also find beech, hazel, holly, and younger cherry and birch trees contributing to the variety. In spring, a vibrant carpet of bluebells spreads across the woodland floor, typical of ancient woods.

The terrain is flat and easy to navigate, with a network of paths winding through the site. A public footpath runs east to west across the centre, though it appears little used—during our visit, we didn’t encounter a single person.

Thanks to the open surroundings, the woodland feels bright and airy, supporting a healthy range of wildlife. Scattered open glades provide excellent spots for camping and woodland activities during the warmer months.

Located deep in the Kent countryside, Tun Wood is within easy reach of nearby villages—the closest being Sissinghurst, home to a welcoming pub and food options. The towns of Tunbridge Wells to the west and Rye on the south coast are also a short drive away, making Tun Wood a perfect spot for a weekend retreat.

The parish is Cranbrook and Sissinghurst, and the County Council is Kent
