Buckler Wood presents a rare chance to own an enchanting mixed woodland nestled within the stunning Dorset National Landscape.

The woodland is predominantly made up of mature oak, ash, and hazel, while a section of conifers in the northwest adds good contrast. These tall conifers allow ample light to filter through to the forest floor, while also providing year-round colour. Elsewhere, hawthorne, blackthorne, holly, laurel can also be found.

The ground is flat and dry, with grasses underfoot. A network of paths runs through the wood, leading to several open glades. There are two established camping areas, including a compost toilet.

Wildlife thrives here, with deer, Sitka among them, frequently seen grazing across the woodland. The site is also rich in bluebells, wildflowers and wild garlic, enhancing its natural charm.

Whether you’re interested in light woodland management or simply seeking a peaceful retreat to enjoy with family and friends, Buckler Wood offers an ideal setting.

The historic town of Dorchester lies just a short drive away, while the coastline at Weymouth and Lulworth is easily accessible to the south. Closer to home, a variety of scenic walks can be enjoyed, and The Hunters Moon pub is within easy walking distance via a public footpath.

Ward is Chalk Valleys and the County Council is Dorset.

Boundaries: The boundary is open NW and SW and partially fenced NE and SE. SW and NW follow the main access track, NE borders neighbouring woodland and SE borders the road and a small area of woodland. All boundaries are clearly marked with red paint on posts and trees.

Access: There is excellent vehicle access all year round via a hard track and shared locked gate. Parking is also possible inside the woodland itself.

Covenant: There is a covenant on the wood designed to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of this and adjoining woodlands, click HERE to read and download.
