Mantles Wood - Sold

A classic Chilterns beech woodland set in beautiful open countryside convienantly located between High Wycombe and Great Missendden and with good road frontage.

There are two distinct areas; on the higher ground the beech has been well-thinned and stands tall and straight; while in the shallow valley and lower areas there is a mixture of species including mature cherry, oak, ash, birch and chestnut with in places, an understory of holly.  Hornbeam is spread throughout the woodland.

There is a vehicle entrance from Watchet Lane as shown on the plan, at present blocked by a large log.

When viewing we suggest parking at the southern upper end and walking down the lane to the track entrance. Do be sure to explore the south western corner which is particuarly attractive with gentle slopes that offer seclusion and privacy and where the intense blue of the bluebells leaps through the trees.

The woodland is in the Chilterns AONB and is classified as being semi-natural ancient woodland.
