Description: A woodland where the full beauty of the area can be appreciated with views across the local hills and farmland and beyond out across to Cardigal Bay, the Preseli Hills to the south with Snowdonia to the north and even as far as the Lleyn Peninsula.

Most of the woodland was harvested some 10 years ago under a Woodland Grant Scheme and then replanted in 2004 with 60% oak and a range of other broadleaved trees. There is also some conifer regeneration. The aerial photo is from 2006. There is a good internal access using the extensive hard tracks.

In contrast on the northern side the wood slopes down to a small stream, where the broadleaved trees shade the bank-side. To the south is an area of mature conifer fringed with broadleaves.

Access: Is given from two sides along hard tracks from the public highway where there is a right of way into the wood.  To the east through high metal gates and to the west through two metal field gates (keys will be provided).

Planning: approval has been agreed for a forestry building measuring  75m x 75m on the woodland, CLICK  here for details. Other sympathetic complementary uses for the woodland may be accepted by the planners, this is an area where the provision of tourist facilities is actively encouraged.

The Area: this part of West Wales is renowned for its beauty, culture and as a location for a wide range of outdoor activities from energetic canoeing to hill walking and to the more contemplative enjoyment of the beaches or quiet fishing.  The small hamlet of Rhydlewis  is close-by and the market town of Landysul within a short drive.
