The wood is classified as Ancient and Semi-natural in the inventory of Kent woodlands. It is within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is principally chestnut and ash coppice, with also hornbeam, maple, hazel, cherry, birch and a few oak standards. In the spring, bluebells blanket the woodland floor, along with an abundance of primroses and wood anemones. Small private pathways lead you around the woodland to a pleasant clearing with campfire and seating area. The wide clearing opens up to wonderful views to the South East. There is also excellent access to local walks over the surrounding hills.

Do take extra care when visiting this woodland as there are numerous fallen trees.

District is Folkestone and Hythe DC. Parish is is Elham.

Boundaries are indicated by green markings, fencing to the south west, south east and a public footpath on the north west side.

Access The owner will have a key to the gate at the main entrance of Tye Wood and vehicle rights along both tracks marked in blue on the map. The track that runs along the field to the yard of Mill House Farm should be used for heavy vehicles accessing the wood.
