Bredhurst Hurst (Owen’s Perch) is a small yet charming area of Ancient and Semi-Natural Woodland, nestled within the Kent Downs (AONB).
The woodland is primarily chestnut coppice, interspersed with oak, birch, beech, hawthorn, and hornbeam. The terrain is mostly flat and easy to navigate, though some parts have become dense where nature has been left undisturbed for several years. Scattered throughout the wood are a few open glades, ideal for setting up base camps or hosting woodland activities.
The wider wood is well walked, but within the woodland itself, the site is private and peaceful and far from any roads. The woodland also sits next to the famous Owen’s Perch—a delightful vantage point for taking in the peaceful surroundings.
The nearby village of Bredhurst is within walking distance and offers a friendly pub and local shop, while Maidstone is only a short drive away.
Ward is Boxley Downs, and the County Council is Kent.
Boundaries: The boundary is open on all sides and marked with blue paint, W and S. To the west and south, the boundary follows the access tracks. The NW corner is marked by a large beech tree in the centre of the track and marked with three lines in blue paint. The SE corner is marked by three blue lines on a large chestnut, as shown in the images. North and east border neighbouring woodland.
Access: Vehicle access is possible via a hard track and a shared locked gate. With some clearing, parking would be possible within the woodland itself.
