Mallards Moor offers a rare opportunity to own a stunning Ancient & Semi-Natural broadleaf woodland nestled in the heart of the Hampshire countryside.
Tucked away at the far end of a residential lane, the woodland offers seclusion and tranquillity, having remained largely untouched for many years. Within the wood, majestic oak and beech provide an impressive canopy, giving the site a wonderful scale. Birch, hazel, holly, hawthorne, grey willow, ash, cherry and sycamore are also present. In spring, carpets of bluebells, primroses, and wild garlic bring vibrant colour and fragrance to the forest floor.
Underfoot, ferns and grasses open up to woodland paths leading in and around the site. The terrain is varied, the top section on the west being quite steep, but once in the centre and eastward, the land is mostly flat, providing numerous open glades for woodland activity. A gentle stream flows along the eastern boundary, attracting abundant wildlife, from roe deer and foxes to badgers, buzzards, and woodpeckers.
Mallards Moor is in an ideal location; the village of Bursledon is within walking distance, offering everyday amenities and train connections. A nearby bridleway links to beauty spots such as Royal Victoria Country Park, the historic ruins of Netley Abbey, and the picturesque village of Hamble with historic pubs and the Hamble River, with its marinas, waterside walks, and ferry to Warsash.
For wider adventures, Southampton, the South Downs, the New Forest, and the Hampshire coast are all easily accessible.
The ward is Bursledon & Hound North, and the county council is Hampshire.
Boundaries: The boundary is open E, W, N, S and part fenced SE. E follows the stream, S borders neighbouring woodland and N and W follow the public footpath.
Access: There is excellent vehicle access via an all-weather track and a shared locked gate. Parking is possible in the SW corner of the woodland.
