South Cranmer presents an excellent opportunity to acquire a characterful area of ancient, semi-natural broadleaf woodland on the outskirts of Canterbury.
Impressive, well-spaced oak and chestnut dominate the northern section, while further south, young hornbeam introduces variety and texture to the landscape. Beech, birch, hawthorn, holly, and hazel are also present, adding to the woodland’s rich diversity. There is a TPO in place to protect the woodland.
The ground is predominantly flat, making it easy and enjoyable to explore. A network of woodland paths winds through the site, leading to a central camp area with a basic log store. Along the southern boundary, an ancient woodbank creates a distinct change in character, with bluebells and butcher’s broom found at lower levels. Deer from the wider South Bishops Den are regular visitors, with bedding areas scattered throughout the woodland.
The woodland feels exceptionally private and peaceful, making it an ideal retreat for those looking to escape into nature.
For convenience, local services near the entrance provide everyday essentials and hot food, while Canterbury is just a short drive away. Whitstable and the north coast are also within easy reach, and with direct access to the A2, both London to the west and Dover to the east are readily accessible.
South Cranmer is one of four adjacent woodlands of varying sizes currently available. See also Anslem, Boniface and North Cranmer. For those looking for a larger woodland these could be sold in parts or as a whole.
Ward is Boughton and Courtenay and the County Council is Kent.
