Springwater Wood is a charming mixed woodland nestled in the peaceful Devon countryside. With a wide central ride and natural springs, it offers an attractive and accessible woodland setting.

Extending to just over 3 acres, the woodland is an ideal size for anyone looking to own and manage their own piece of woodland.

The north-western section is predominantly planted with spruce and Scots pine, leading up to the central ride. To the east and south, well-spaced beech trees, planted around 60 years ago, create a light and open woodland with numerous level areas that are well suited to woodland activities or simple relaxation. Elsewhere, mature oak, hawthorn, hazel and sycamore add further diversity, while common gorse can be found in the lower areas.

The woodland is generally flat and easy to explore, and the central ride provides excellent vehicle access as well as a practical route for firewood extraction and woodland management.

Open fields border the woodland to the east and south, while the beech canopy filters sunlight to create beautiful dappled light across the woodland floor.

Springwater Wood is rich in wildlife, with deer and badgers regularly seen, along with a wide variety of birdlife.

The village of Shebbear is just a short drive or cycle away and offers a village shop, bakery and a welcoming pub. For days out, both the spectacular North and East Devon coastline can be reached in under 45 minutes.

The Ward is Shebbear & Langtree and the County Council is Devon.

Boundaries: The boundary is open N and W and marked with pink paint on posts and trees. N borders neighbouring woodland and west follows the access track. E and S are fenced and follow a woodbank and fields beyond. The stream also runs along the southern boundary.

Access: There is excellent vehicle access via a hard track and shared locked gate. There is also a private track that runs through the site. Parking is also possible within the woodland.

Covenant: There is a covenant on the wood designed to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of this and adjoining woodlands, click HERE to read and download.
