Coed Pentir is predominantly a broadleaf woodland with the exception of a small area that has some mature conifer trees growing. The woodland is surrounded by a Plantation on Ancient Woodland site (PAWS), and a small part of Coed Pentir is designated as PAWS. While much of the wood was planted following harvesting of the conifers (in the early 1990s) Coed Pentir is now beginning to feel like an ancient woodland with such trees as ash, hazel, rowan, oak, sycamore, alder, silver birch and holly growing here. There are also a few apple trees in the wood, and in the spring the woodland is carpeted with wild flowers, including bluebells.

The northern boundary is the middle of the river, Afon Cegin, which has some large boulders and deep pools. Locally it is reported that the river is good for trout fishing.

Towards the north eastern part of the woodland there is a large pond with an inlet and outlet of water to help keep it oxygenated. In the middle there is a large island that provides good habitat for local wildlife such as the nesting ducks that have made use of it.

Near the pond there is a large clearing that has been created on a level part of the woodland. This area could be used as a base for woodland activities.

Along the track towards the southern boundary there is an old quarry tucked away. This quarry is ideal to use as a camping area with trees perfectly spaced to string up a couple of hammocks and small fire pit in the centre.

Some of the wildlife seen and heard here include many song birds, ducks, rabbit, owl, jay and fox.

Access:  Coed Pentir has a good private track that provides access to the majority of the woodland.

Wildlife: There are Roach in the pond. Around the woodland there are Buzzards nests, an owl in the quarry area, and Badgers.

Covenant: in common with the neighbouring woodlands, there is a covenant designed to ensure that all can have quiet and peaceful enjoyment of their woodland.

Local area: Although this woodland is very private and secluded it also has the benefit of being in easy reach of BethesdaBangor, and Llanberis for local amenities and places of interest to visit. Llanberis, at the foot of Snowdon, is only 8 miles away. 

Boundaries:  The northern boundary is the river. The eastern and southern boundaries are fenced. The remainder of the boundaries are the edge of the access tracks. Boundaries are further indicated by purple paint markings on trees.

Public access:  There are no public footpaths or public access rights.

Also included: There is a composting toilet, an off-grid shower cabin, and a platform for a tree house, which are all included in the sale. Other facilities and equipment may be available by separate negotiation with the owners.

From the North and East:

From the A55 take exit 11 signposted for the A5 and Bethesda.

At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A4244

Continue along this road for approximately 1.5 miles.

On the right hand side of the road there is an entrance with large boulders in front of the gate. Please do not park in this entrance area.
