Description    Staithe Wood is in a highly sought after location on the banks of the River Yare in the Norfolk Broads, a National Park. A mixed deciduous wet woodland consisting of mainly alder and willow with some sizeable ash trees. It is quite unique as it is on the banks of a tidal river and offers a very interesting habitat. It is an area of remarkable natural beauty; Staithe Wood overlooks the Surlingham Broad Nature Reserve on the opposite bank. As well as the woodland, there is also an area of reed bed at its heart and ponds dotted throughout. It offers the purchaser private access to the river bank which is along a solid hard track suitable for vehicles. The river bank has been opened up to give access and views of the river. It is a secluded riverside suitable for fishing and boating, or simply to enjoy the beauty, peace and wildlife on offer.  The purchasers of the wood will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the peaceful enjoyment of the woods.

A dinghy kept on site could give much fun, rowing downstream with the tide and river flow then returning with the flood tide - of course the former is much stronger than the latter!!

Access    From the wooden gate (with For Sale sign) on Ferry Lane walk down the track, the entrance is on the right hand side, this is actually marked as Water Pump Wood. This is a double gate, one fixed on top of the lower gate! Use the combination number provided by Bob Liles, open the padlock and chain and gate and walk through. Staithe Wood is on the left hand side, the track here is a right of way for Staithe as far as the river bank.

Boundaries  The boundaries of Staithe Wood are the edge of the entrance track, the river bank, a line of blue marked trees and the trackside to the rear.

Note  Please take care when viewing, the river bank is steep and when the tides are very high, (high water springs) the river is almost at bank top height.  Click here for tide tables, Staithe Wood frontage is plus 4 hrs.

Covenant   There is a covenant, click here to read, on the woodland designed to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of this and adjoining woodland.

Viewing   please phone Bob Liles 07793 140010 for the combination number to the gate.

The newly re-aligned roundabouts on the A47 are a little confusing.

From the east, Yarmouth and Acle direction simply take the sliproad signed to Postwick. Then go first left and follow the road sharp left. Brundall Low Road.

From the west, take the sliproad signed Norwich at the roundabout take 4th exit signed Park and Ride and Postwick.

Cross over the dual carriageway taking the first exit, then at next roundabout take first exit and then after about 150m take the manditory right turn then almost immediately follow the road round to the left, Brundall Low Road.

Take the right turn by the farm, over the rail bridge down the hill to where the woods start. Park on the far side of the cross roads, please do not block the gateway.

Walk back to the gate leading to the track, walk down this track until seeing the wood on the right, by the small 'For Sale' sign on the double height gate.

Use the combination number in the lock to access the wood.
