Not only is this part of Devon exquisitely beautiful with small hedge-bounded fields, woodlands on hill tops and in valleys, small streams and rivers but ecologically rich with a myriad of habitiats.  This landscape is formally recognised by the East Devon AONB area of outstanding natural beauty designation.

Bucknole Wood is part of that ecology and landscape, nestled on the side of a small valley bounded by woods and meadows. Here there is a mix of broadleaved trees including willow, holly, rowan, birch and oak with a lush understory and woodland floor plants. It's likely this is old-field woodland, grazed for part of its history, the open areas and tree species indicate this.

Several natural springs add much value to the woodland in these days of draught, providing a useful water supply.

Roe deer frequent the wood and can sometime be heard barking when disturbed. Woodcock and many other birds frequent the woodland.

Access to the wood is off a minor road, climb the gate, immediately the feeling is one of privacy and being deep in the wood.

Yet the wood is only 3 miles from the centre of Honiton and the A38 making access quick and easy.

Close by is the village of Offwell with a 15th Century Church, Honiton provides many facilities including a weekly street market.
