Description: Bonnets Copse - yes with one 't' as shown by the old maps - displays a rather pleasing symmetry, most of the trees are even-aged with the oaks in mid-rotation. They are tall and straight stemmed and should grow into fine specimens. The Scots pine, evenly spaced between the oak, reach to the same canopy and have helped the oak stay in shape. The other species are more randomly distributed, and include ash, poplar, aspen with hazel and hawthorn below. The dark glabrous green of holly and laurel provide contrast and privacy.
The entrance, off the road to the south is overgrown at present and would need clearing.
Viewing: During daylight hours with printed details. Park on the grass verge just north of the wood, please do not block the fieldgate. Walk into the wood by the 'Woodland for Sale' sign.
