Lath wood is mainly chestnut coppice, with some hazel and birch. There are several magnificent oaks, as well as a few large beeches, and a venerable old chestnut standard in the north west corner. Along the eastern boundary is a natural clearing, which a new owner could link up to other clearings in the wood by creating some new foot tracks. The soil is mainly flinty clay overlying chalk.

Lath Wood lies within Oakenpole Wood and is accessed along a very quiet country lane. It is said to have been woodland for at least 700 years. This is a Planted Site on Ancient Woodland (PAWS) and is set in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in a Special Landscape Area (SLA).

The owner of Lath Wood will have vehicle rights of way along the tracks on the map marked in green.

Covenant   There is a covenant, click here to read, on the woodland designed to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of this and adjoining woodland.
