A fine classic English bluebell woodland with good access at the western end of the lay-by directly off a minor road. Just about every square yard is covered in bluebells in season. The wood is gently sloping with a southerly aspect.

The wood is principally oak with mature sweet chestnut coppice and areas of younger birch with some hazel coppice while the two roadside woodbanks support mature hornbeam coppice.

Records show the wood to be Ancient semi-natural. See the website Magic and select Woodchurch and Habitat Inventories to see the online map. This plan is also shown in the photos gallery.

Because of the special wildlife quality the woodland is designated along with another 240 acres to the north as a Kent Wildlife Site, see (map) or (description) . The landscape value is acknowledged in the Special Landscape Area designation.

There is a public footpath along the southern boundary of the wood, as shown dashed brown on the plan. Sporting rights and mineral rights are included.
