Netherne Lane Wood

Set on level ground, bordered on two sides by woodland and open fields to the south, this beautiful broadleaf woodland has many fine mature oak trees. It's classified as being semi-natural ancient woodland which means it's protected and been as woodland since at least 1600.

If you are lucky you may glimpse the occasional roe deer and badger that wander through the woodland.

Directions

• From M23 going north this becomes the A23, after about 1 mile  look out for Starbucks coffee house on the right hand side, turn right here into Dean Lane.
• or
• Heading south on the A23 after passing through Coulsdon and then Hooley, pass a BP petrol station on the right, further on passed an ESSO station on the left. After about 300 yards from the ESSO station turn left at Starbucks coffee house into Dean Lane.
• then
• After a few hundred yards turn left into Netherne Lane.
• The woodland can be found on the right hand side opposite the entrance to Alstead Manor Farm.
• Care should be taken when parking as the road is quite narrow.
