Coed Caerderwen is a sheltered wood in the valley of the Afon Morgenau, a tributary of the River Teifi.  The source of the Afon Morgenau is a short distance from the wood, and the river runs along the southern boundary of the wood.  Coed Caerderwen is mainly Douglas Fir with mixed broadleaves, particularly along the river. The remnants of quarry workings add some interesting landscape features.

Parts of the wood, near the river, are wetland areas, and a number of small seasonal streams cross the woodland and feed into this area.

Access: Coed Caerderwen is accessed over a right of way from the road, through a gate near to the large parking and timber stacking area at the edge of the wood.

A track runs from the main entrance, along the length of the wood near the north western boundary.

Coed Caerderwen is accessible with an ordinary car.

Public access: There is no public access in the wood.

Sporting rights: Sporting rights over Coed Caerderwen are retained by a former owner, but appear not to be exercised.

Mineral rights: Included, except as reserved by statute.

Local area and history:  Coed Caerderwen is less than 2 miles from Cilgerran Castle, 5 miles from Cardigan, and 7 miles from Poppit Sands Beach.

Boundaries:  The south eastern boundary is the Afon Morgenau.  The north-western boundary is fenced from adjoining farmland.  The two short boundaries to the north-west and south-east are earth banks.  The north western boundary is next to the For Sale board, and is indicated by posts marked with yellow paint.

Covenant: in common with the neighbouring woodlands, there is a covenant designed to ensure that all can have quiet and peaceful enjoyment of their woodland.

Photographs: were taken in May 2021.

Adjoining woodland available: Note that the woodland to the north-east of Coed Caerderwen (Coed Nant Canu) is also available.

VIEWING: You are welcome to visit this wood by yourself.  Please ensure that you have a copy of these sales details with you: we recommend either printing the details or downloading them to your phone/tablet/laptop before you go. Please take care when viewing as the great outdoors can contain unexpected hazards and woodlands are no exception.
